Texas Wildfire Relief Fund

The state has established the Texas Wildfire Relief Fund to assist fire departments with financial support as a result of this year’s devastating wildfire season.  Fire departments needing financial assistance to purchase wildland PPE can submit a request to SFFMA at http://www.sffma.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=531&p=1153#p1153.

Federal Aid

A federal disaster declaration was announced on July 1, 2011 to trigger FEMA’s Public Assistance (PA) program for 45 Texas counties.  Applicants in these counties are now eligible to receive reimbursement funding for Emergency Protective Measures that supported firefighting activities for wildfires that occurred between April 6 and May 3, 2011.  Information can be obtained from the FEMA website http://www.fema.gov/news/newsrelease.fema?id=56462.
