2026 SFFMA Conference Recap
The 2026 SFFMA 150th Annual Training Conference & Convention in Waco was another incredible event, and VFIS of Texas was proud to once again serve as the Fire Brigade Sponsor.
We enjoyed connecting with firefighters, EMS personnel, fire marshals, and their families from across Texas while showcasing insurance and risk management solutions designed specifically for the emergency services community. Thank you to everyone who visited Booth #305, picked up a 2026 VFIS of Texas Challenge Coin, and participated in our popular coin-flip competition!
This year's competition was bigger than ever, with attendees competing for cash prizes, while younger conference guests (under 18) had the chance to win exciting prizes including a Nintendo Switch and large LEGO® sets. SFFMA's family-friendly atmosphere made it the perfect opportunity to include future firefighters and first responders in the fun.
To top it all off, we were incredibly honored to receive the Best Booth Award for the second consecutive year. We sincerely thank SFFMA and everyone who stopped by to visit our team. We look forward to seeing you again next year!

One of the highlights of the week was presenting the 2026 Firefighter of the Year and EMS Responder of the Year awards. VFIS of Texas is proud to sponsor these annual awards to celebrate the dedication, bravery, and leadership of Texas first responders.
🏅 2026 Firefighter of the Year: Josh Bardwell, West Mountain VFD
🏅 2026 EMS Responder of the Year: Captain Corbin Bullington, North Hood County VFD
Each winner received $3,000 and a flag flown over the Texas Capitol in their honor.

VFIS of Texas is also honored to sponsor the inaugural SFFMA Legacy of Service Award and to recognize its first recipient, Bob Looney.
This award celebrates a lifetime of dedication, leadership, and commitment to the fire service. Bob's contributions have left a lasting impact on firefighters and communities across Texas, making him a truly deserving recipient of this distinguished honor. Bob is also a Past President of the SFFMA Executive Board.
Congratulations, Bob, on this well-earned recognition. Thank you for your legacy of service and leadership.
